It's been a bit of an off week - what with a case of the common cold slowing us all down and forcing me to cancel two shoots I had scheduled in for the weekend and as a result, having to put the blog on hold for a while. It's frustrating at first, but always humbling in the end to have things not go your way. It reminds me that my plans are ultimately not in my control and that it can take something as insignificant as the common cold or bad weather to throw things out of whack. In the end, the break was good for me.
I spent the little time-out over the weekend taking some personal shots at home and although I was itching to go out, I really enjoyed spending the time trying to improve on shooting in low-light and figuring out what shots/compositions work best when photographing little people.
Admittedly, I'm still in the process of figuring all of this out. Although I've loved photography for a while now, I'm learning that doing it as a hobby and doing it professionally for others who may keep and cherish these captured memories long after they've passed are two totally different things. I've been learning a little bit more every single day since I decided to start this venture and it's been really exciting to see the growth, no matter how slow and gruelling the process may be. I've still got a long way to go and so much more to learn, but instead of feeling overwhelmed, I feel hungry. It makes me want to keep learning and keep getting better - I suppose this is what happens when you start doing something you are truly passionate about.
Thankyou for all your support so far - it's been a vulnerable time for me just as much as it's been exciting and your encouragement and kindness have been a huge help along the way.
I leave you with a few photos from my illness-infested weekend :p
